The PT Wellness Project provides direct client/patient pro-bono physical therapy and complimentary therapy services and educational workshops and trainings to Black survivors, culturally specific organizations that support survivors, shelters and rape and domestic violence crisis centers in various weekend clinics nationally. Complimentary therapy services may be inclusive of: yoga, acupuncture, Reiki therapy, massage therapy, and art, music or dance therapy. By providing these services, we can help close the health inequity gap for Black Survivors of domestic and partner violence, and sexual assault who were also affected by Covid. In addition, the PT Wellness Project will invite and supervise rising third year or graduating physical therapy doctoral students from HBCU’s and Black student physical therapist from other institutions to be trained in trauma informed care and be able to provide additional physical therapy services while at the same time increasing their experience to become community based, empathetic, exceptional physical therapist in their field.
If you are a Black culturally specific organization who supports survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and you are interested in a pro bono weekend PT clinic for your clients or an educational workshop training for your clients or staff, please reach out to Lauren H. Collins at admin@laurenhcollinswellness.com. Please include in the subject line "Interested in a Clinic or Workshop".

According to Black Women’s Blueprint, “The Truth Commission on Black Women and Sexual Violence” 2012, 40-60% of Black women report subjection to sexual coercion by 18 years old. (See the link for more facts.) A history of childhood sexual abuse can be a catalyst for many adult ailments.
According to RAINN, every 98 seconds a person is sexually assaulted. Those traumatized by sexual assault can develop chronic pain issues as well as the many other issues that may afflict a survivor. Communities of color are disproportionately affected by sexual assault and are underserved. We have also revived the non-profit Vital Self Healing, Inc. to provide services and education for survivors in underserved communities. Thank you for your generosity.
The Felt Vulva Project was created by Lauren H. Collins PT, DPT, CLT to give survivors of sexual and domestic trauma a way to reconnect with their bodies in a positive way. These women beautifully expressed their love for themselves through The Felt Vulva Project. We celebrate these women and their healing
